Cuilaun
A 55ft varnished wooden ketch launched in 1970 by McGruer of the Clyde, of varnished 1 1/4” teak planking, Cuilan has completed 12 transatlantic voyages and was the class winner in the 1979 Transatlantic Race. She has also been class winner at Antigua Classic Week. her owner once spent 18 months sailing around the world on another boat and says he is “looking forward to getting around the course in one piece!”
Her crew include a mixture of Irish and British sailors including John Bourke, a past Admiral of the Royal Ocean Racing Club who himself has done two transatlantic trips on the boat. The skipper is Alex Riley.
